The network is headed by a Network Board, comprising: co-Chairs appointed by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing; the Chief Executives of the six NHS Health Boards currently providing children and young people’s cancer services; the National Clinical Director and Network Manager. Stakeholder representation includes: the Scottish Government; Nursing; the third sector (charities) and patients and/or parent representation.
The MSN CYPC Board is responsible for the strategic direction of the network and is directly accountable to the Scottish Government. The Operational Delivery Group (ODG) reports on their portfolios of work to the MSN CYPC Board. The ODG brings together clinical and managerial representation from several health boards. There are also a number of workstreams and professional reference groups that have representation from many Scottish health boards.
The Cancer Plan for Children and Young People in Scotland 2016 - 2019, which was launched in February 2016, sets out the priorities for the MSN over the next three years.
