Operational Delivery Group

Role and Remit

The MSN will work closely with NHS Boards to ensure the delivery of a single cohesive service for children and young people with cancer in Scotland. At times the service specific priorities of the MSN may conflict with existing priorities for NHS Boards, in relation to workforce requirements or utilisation of supporting systems for example. The MSN Operational Delivery Group, which has clinical and managerial representation from the cancer centres, is already in place to anticipate issues and to seek to resolve them in a collaborative way.

The portfolio of work is as follows:

• Managing human resource (staffing)
• Transitions (adult/primary care/interdependent services)
• Research (National/local)
• Interfaces (e.g. Scottish Cancer Taskforce)
• Education
• Representative functions (patient, parents, primary care)
• Palliative care
