What to expect
When your child has been diagnosed with cancer it can be devastating. Parents can feel shock, disbelief, fear, guilt, sadness, anxiety, and anger – and it is perfectly normal to experience some or all of these emotions.
Information can be difficult to process when your child has been diagnosed – some parents feel as though their world has been turned upside down and that no matter how much information is to hand, it is impossible to take it all in.
We have gathered some basic information for you to read, with links on advice and support. On this site you will find information on types of cancer, types of treatment, psychosocial matters and support groups.
Click on the following links to learn what to expect on these matters: At or Before Diagnosis, In Treatment & Post treatment. If you require cancer information in another language, please click here. Other formats such as Audio Books, Large Print, Braille and videos in British Sign Language are available from Macmillan.
